It is time for the Republican Party to stand up to itself from within. If we are going to convince the American voters that we stand for liberty and family values, we need to clean up our act.
If the best we can endorse are candidates such as Mark Sanford, Larry Craig, John Ensign, Mark Foley… well, you get the idea, the list goes on and on, how do we dare ask the voters to embrace us as the party of family values?
I realize that there is ample representation among conservatives that don’t deserve to be lumped in with these dregs and it is my belief that there are plenty more in our base to fill leadership positions across the board who can refrain from soliciting prostitutes, having extramarital affairs, and sex in airport bathrooms. We need to renounce these worthless hypocrites for what they are. They do not stand for the values that we as conservatives strive to protect. There is no place to defend anyone who crosses the line of morality and those crossing that line should be cast out immediately.
We as conservatives need to aggressively start at the top of our own party, nationally and locally, and clean house once and for all. We need to establish a code of conduct that has no room for compromise. Then and only then can we ask for the trust of the taxpaying voter to lead them out of this economic turmoil.

I agree that the GOP needs to clean up their act, however, why is it only the Republicans take their people to the wood shed and make them resign, when the Democrats sit back and laugh! Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton, and countless other Democrats, have affairs and mysterious "Deaths" and they get by with it. Democrats never throw their people under the bus! Democrats stick by their people no matter what! Republicans need to stick together and not run like cowards when their fellow Republican get into trouble. The press love us whimps, and Liberals sit back and roar. Lets not act like little Sunday school children and shun our troubled fellow Republicans. I am certainly not promoting adultry, but the Democrats invented it, and they know how to cope with it by ignoring it. And who is now in total control in Washington DC, and the State of Minnesota? Don't tell me all the Democrats are chaste! Barney Frank?
Ummm. let's evaluate that thought, if we don't hold ourselves and our party to a higher standard than that of the left, then how are we any different from them? I for one being republican and conservative, believe that the bar is set to a higher standard for good reason, if you cannot keep your personal life in order, I have no reasonable expectation that you will govern any differently.
I don't care how high we want to hold our standards, we need to win, and win fast. We will not win by not standing behind our candidates good or bad. The morals of the Democrats have not hurt their standing with the voters. Again, who is in control? We are in a losing game, we need to send in great people, but, we must stand behind them, good or bad. When was the last time Democrats sent any fellow Democrat home in shame? They should have many times!!! I know the press is bias with the Dem's, but we must change our ways, or we will not win an election for decades to come. Of course we must have high standards, but, we all do things we shouldn't and must we be shunned by our own fellow Republicans for doing something stupid? The Democrats don't and again, who is in power?
Sorry, I will not lower my standards for the sake of winning. I think that those who will should evaluate their position and consider a third party candidate to back. The ebb and flow of the political winds of change is common in this system we call democracy. The democrats had a stronger hold on congress in the 70's and what became of that? The Reagan Revolution. I will not advocate nor will I support the lowering of moral standards within the party in the name of winning at all costs. I would encourage you to review our party platform and reconsider your position. We are Republicans who stand for Liberty, Freedom, and FAMILY VALUES!!! There can be no exception especially of those entrusted to represent us in government.
Maybe I'm holding the bar too high, if that is the case, it might be that I need to look outside the party of Lincoln in the future.
It is normally practice to do cleaning on a Spring day. This is what people commonly do. But you have to clean your house once in awhile to eliminate dusts and garbage around you. Always put things where it should be.
