No Town Hall Meetings For Oberstar!

This is copied from the MinnPost.com
"Now that Congressman Tim Walz in southern Minnesota seems to have buckled to the pressure to have a town hall meeting on health care reform, folks in the northern part of the state might be wondering if Congressman Jim Oberstar might have similar plans.
Nope, says the Duluth News Tribune.
The paper reports:
"[Oberstar] typically does not do townhalls per say [sic]," [said spokesman John Schadl.]
Oberstar prefers forums with specific focus groups or interested parties, such as a forum he did last week in Pine City with farmers on dairy issues, Schadl said. "These town hall meetings have become so politicized, and he finds it so valuable to reach out to people when he travels, talk to them directly."
Schadl said that Oberstar has had numerous meetings with constituency groups on health care reform in the past year.
Of course, Oberstar is a 17-term DFLer in a DFL district, while Walz is a second-term DFLer in a traditionally Republican district. "
There is a letter from the editor in the Post Review, I have written this man, called his office, gone to his facebook page....How do you stay a 17 term Senator without talking to your constituents? Oh, I forgot, dfl district..no questions asked for many, many years...time to wake the sleeping elephant people!

Oberstar is not a 17 term Senator - he is the eighth district Congressman with that many terms under his belt. You may want to correct your error.

Beyond that Oberstar deems himself unbeatable so why should he hold any of the meeting types you describe?

Oberstar has been in there since Blacknik! By the way, ask Oberstar what he and NWA did with the taxpayers money he gave them years ago, that was to build facilities in Hibbing and other Democrat hot spots? Maybe it went with Perpich's chop stick factory. Must be nice being a Democrat and never have to be accountable for throughing money down rat holes!!

Hey 1st Anonymous. Oberstar was first elected in 1975. Reps have a 2 year term. Now take 2009-1975 and you will get 34 years. I will wait for you to figure. That makes 17 terms. No wonder Democrats can't balance a budget when they don't know simple arithmetic. Ever hear of term limits? UMMM? Bye Bye Oberstar!

"lst Anonymous" replies: I was not quibbling Oberstar's years in office; I was only clarifying that he is not a "Senator."

I beg your pardon. I was wrong. A true Conservative always admits when wrong. please accept my apoligies.

It is time to draw the line in the sand--Oberstar MUST go- he is a big EARMARK- that is what he does-"Bridge to Nowhere". I have tried many time to contact his office and send emails- without responses to my questions- just the blanket "thanks for your support"--excuse me..did you read my e-mail?? I have yet to have a call back- Last time I checked he works for us, WE THE PEOPLE. Lets get involved and get this tax and spender out of office.

Amen to that fellow anonymous! Oberstar doesn't talk about the taxpayers money he gave Northwest a few years back. How has that money helped us taxpayers? His mansion in Virginia and his chateau in France, where is his home in this district? Tell me Democrats! Where does this man live in Mn?

Does Oberstar own a place in France? If so, do we know where and is there a photo? I'm part of the Cravaack campaign in St Louis County and it might be fun to contrast that photo with hus "home" in Chisholm.

He does have a home in France according to Fox News. He is very mum on it for obvious reasons. This man needs to go, NOW.
